I was interested in HAM when I was a kid but getting the license in Hungary in the 80s was not easy. I was not really into CW which was mandatory at that time. -Now I’m learning it.- I was building small receivers and FM transmitter to impress my friends. Neighbors were probably less impressed with all that RF noise I created.
I got my General license in the spring of 2022.
I like to build my own equipment although the Ubtix is pretty much comes as a pre-assembled unit. Iām messing around with SDRs with GNU Radio and learning about modulations and experimenting with RF filters both digital and analog.
My other hobby is CAD design and 3D printing. I designed and printed a 10m dipole mount and a 20/40m fan antenna, so far they are holding on on the roof. I’m using PETG which is stronger and UV resistant compared to the more common PLA.
