Here is my PRUSA MKS3 3D printer. PRUSA provides free DIY enclosure designs with IKEA tables and 3D printed parts. The enclosure is necessary to protect against draft and some plastics like nylon require higher ambient temperature to print. I’m printing mostly with PETG filament as it is better suited for mechanical parts and has a higher melting point than PLA.
2021 C64 Joystick
During Christmas I fired up my old C64. The stock joystick kept failing on me and to beat the computer I needed a better joystick. Unfortunately there was nothing good quality available. I found a nice Arcade style joystick on Amazon but it didn’t have a case. A started thinking about designing a case, but luckily someone uploaded a design to Thingiverse. Thanks to KJellBaut for sharing his design.
2021 Tap for 250 gallon water tank
I’ve been collecting rain water for my garden. The original tap broke and the water started to leak. I designed a new water outlet for standard 3/4 schedule 40 pipe.

2020 Solid State Drive Mounting Bracket Design
I added a new SSD to my server, of course the SSD was too small for a standard size bay. Brackets are available online but it is much faster to design and print one. It took about 3 hours to design and print the backet.

2020 Covid-19 Response
In April 2020 when PPE was in short supply for healthcare workers, I 3D printed and donated 100 face shields to local hospitals. The models were provided as free of charge by PRUSA, NIH, and 3DVERKSTAN.
2020 3D Printed Gearbox
I’m experimenting with 3D printed gearbox designs to build cheap 3D printed robots. The motor (~$1) is running at 40000 RPM this must be reduced to ~200RPM. I printed this design from PLA, but in the future I want to switch to nylon which has better properties (viscosity, higher melting point).
